This blog started off in my mind as something to inform John Public about the going ons in the carnival world. Although I absolutely LOVE carnivals no matter where around the globe, I am not ALWAYS up to date on it all and lets face it, we have Sauce for that. (THE Sauce of TrinidadCarnivalDiary.com). So I started to question people, venture out and speak about the things that go on in my mind (oh Lawd), find answers or get more insight through conversations with friends, different peoples experiences, put together what I hear and know, put them all together then try to inform about it all through this blog. I must say, this blog has picked up A LOT from when I started it and am truly grateful. I do try every day to have a new topic of discussion and for the most part, I do but at times I am human and have nothing.
3 things that should happen
- Celebrate the life (of the deceased)
- Affirm our hope (in Christ)
- Express our sorrow
3 facts about grief
- You need to grieve.
- You need time to grieve.
- You need Jesus to heal your grief
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
- John 11:32-37
Five stages of the grieving process:
- Denial
- Anger
- Regret
- Depression
- Acceptance
The problem is when you get stuck in one of these stages, that happens when you start to believe a lie. The voice of the enemy (Satan) in your head somehow convincing you that it was your own fault, or worse yet God's fault that the deceased is now gone. Some wounds are terrible but not terminal and that too shall pass.
- Isaiah 61:1-3
- 1 Thessalonians 4:13
- John 11:25-27
How do you heal?
- Be honest (about how you feel)
- Face your pain
- Find a reason for hope (look to Christ)
- Accept your future
- Count your blessings
- Help someone else (God brings you through it to help others)
- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
- Revelation 21:4
Hope this helps.
