Let me first begin by apologizing for my absence. In my absence I have been checking the daily number of visits to my blog and although I haven't been posting anything, there have been some diligent people that have continued to log on. I have had a lot of ups and downs in the past month and unfortunately it has taken a toll on the blog. All in all, I would just like to thank you for remembering dcarnivalbaby's blogspot and promise to try posting daily regardless of the circumstance.
With that out the way, please, no more "hate" emails LOL and onto the post for today.
One of my last posts was of the kiddies carnival for the Miami-Broward Carnival being cancelled. I guess between the angry committee members, members getting heat from the band leaders, literally thousands of hate mails (paper and electronic) and my post on this blog the committee has decided that the show must go on! Kiddies carnival WILL BE TAKING PLACE ON Sunday the 3rd of October, 2010 at the Betty T Ferguson Recreational Complex located at 3000 NW 199th Street in Miami Gardens and will be streaming (I guess live) via Kalalloo. Listen, I wouldn't go as far to say that the members "don't care" about the children because that's not it. Money is an issue. Money lately has been an issue for not only the Carnival Association but for just about everyone. So enjoy it for what it is this year and try to ensure it isn't "put off" or worse yet cancelled all together for the next year or upcoming years to come. The only way to do this is by getting yourself involved throughout the year. Go to events, donate your time as well as your pitons (every little helps).
The following week on the 10th of October, Mr Machel Montano will be the Grand Marshal at the Miami-Broward Carnival Parade and be awarded with the Cultural Achievement Award, Vanessa James has been deemed the Carnival Ambassador and as they announced "Sir" Oungku will be honoring the late Arrow. Things are looking pretty good for this carnival. I hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!!!
