It's going down!
The Euphoria Mas Band of Miami has recruited the infamous Richard and Anthony from Trinidad and Tobago to design for their 2013 Miami Broward Carnival presentation. I'm hoping all goes well for the band because we all know that although Richard and Anthony have some of the best designs, they tend to be costly. Materials used are pricey and bands end up paying the ultimate price. It is [unofficially] called the 2 year [Richard and Anthony] curse because the bands they've designed for have all gone borderline bankrupt after funding such elaborate costumes and can not do it for more than 2 years. Only time will tell but until then, I will be more than excited for Euphorias band launch. One thing's for sure whatever they have come up with, Euphorias masqueraders will be very pleased!

WE HAVE WORKED WITH MAY BANDS FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS, AND WOULD BE WILLING TO DISCUSS THE CIRCUMSTANCES LEADING TO OUR DEPARTURE WITH A CREDIBLE SOURCE, HOWEVER THE LEVEL OF ASSUMPTION AND SLANDER IN THIS POST IS MOST UNSETTLING AND REQUEST THE AUTHOR TO RETRACT UNTIL INFORMED STATEMENTS CAN BE MADE.
ReplyDeleteMr Anthony I agree that you have wonderful designs, some of the best as a matter of fact. How you felt anything in this post was SLANDER or an ASSUMPTION is beyond me. What I said was that materials used are pricey and bands end up paying the ultimate price. Last I understood was that you design and produce your product. It is UP TO THE BAND to accept or reject any design and/material used. If what you want on your costume is a diamond, it is up to the band to say no and go with a rhinestone instead. Allegedly these bands get their minds blown and want every bead, feather and rhinestone you bring to the table and can not afford it in the end. Is that your fault? Its the age long problem of wanting more than you can afford! The purpose of any business is to make a profit. If these bands make minimal to no profit or lose money; they have paid the ultimate price. As for it being referred to as the two year curse, that is exactly what it is being called. If this is the first of you hearing it, my apologies. It is said that no band can afford you for more than two years. The reasons you've left ANY band was never a concern nor was it mentioned in this blog post. This post was you bringing your talent to Euphoria Mas. What I DID assume was that you were free agents and went wherever you saw fit.
